Elect Karen Redkwich for SD42 School Trustee

After more than 25 years working in public education, I understand the important role strong schools play in the lives of students, families, and communities. With two young grandchildren entering the SD42 school system, I also have a very personal interest in helping ensure our schools continue to provide every student with the opportunity to succeed. My priorities are student success, strong partnerships with families, and responsible, transparent leadership.

A Voice for
Students & Families

I am running for School Trustee as an independent candidate, with no political party or affiliation. My commitment is to the students, families, staff, and communities of SD42, not to a political agenda.

I believe good leadership begins with listening. Families and community members should have meaningful opportunities to share their perspectives, understand how decisions are made, and know that their voices are being heard. I will approach issues with an open mind, ask questions, consider evidence and different points of view, and communicate clearly about the decisions made at the Board table.

As Trustee, I want to be an accessible and accountable representative for our community, keeping student success at the centre while supporting responsible decision-making and transparency wherever possible.

Key Priorities

Student Success

I will keep student learning and achievement at the centre of every decision, with a focus on strong literacy and numeracy, student well-being, and equitable opportunities for every learner to reach their potential.

Family Partnership

I believe strong schools are built in partnership with families. I will listen to parents and caregivers, support clear and open communication, and work to ensure families feel informed, respected, and included in the decisions that affect their children.

Responsible Leadership

I will approach every decision with openness, accountability, and careful consideration, balancing the needs of students and families with responsible use of public resources and a clear focus on the District’s long-term goals.
